The generous will themselves be blessed

Israel’s poor need your help

"

Food for Life provides basic necessities for some of Israel’s most vulnerable in their time of need. With your help, we can do more.

Children who would otherwise go hungry or fall behind in school. The sick and elderly who sometimes cannot afford heating or a decent meal. Disadvantaged single moms in need of a helping hand and Holocaust survivors who deserve all the love and support we can give.

For 20 years, Food for Life stands out as one of Israel’s leading charities offering help directly to those who need it. Thanks to our supporters and the heart-warming dedication of hundreds of volunteers, we offer help and a friendly smile to those who need it most, when and where they most need it.

Finally, such recognition also means doners who pay taxes in Israel are eligible for a 35% refund on their donations.

Food for Life offers all the help it can muster to all who need it, period. Our vision consists mainly of one word: humanism.

Doing more,
in more places

Guided by a desire and commitment to do more and help more every year, Food for Life expands its operations constantly. Operating from 3 centers in the same number of towns (Petah Tikva, Jerusalem and Haifa) we provide food baskets to hundreds of families regularly, and also cook hot meals for the poor, and offer help with school work. You get the picture. When we identify a need we work to address it, with a powerful commitment in mind: alleviating the stress, shame and want associated with poverty

About us

Food for Life came into being as an ad-hoc endeavor created jointly by friends and colleagues seeking to help those in need directly. In 2002 Food for Life was granted and official status by the Israel Register of Association, the formal body managing the supervising NPOs in the country.
Developing at a rapid pace operationally, changing from a strictly volunteer-run project into a formally recognized charity provided Food for Life with the administrative framework required for large-scale activities. Throughout the years, feeding the hungry remains the foundation of our vision and ambitions.
Food for Life views food security as a first and foremost objective and a condition for basic peace of mind without which finding the strength to climb out of poverty becomes virtually impossible. And where the elderly or children are involved, being unable to fend for themselves, an insufficient diet means unbearable distress and humiliation.
No one should go hungry. This simple vision guides our army of volunteers.
Helping hundreds of families monthly and thousands of families during the Jewish holiday seasons, Food for Life also runs soup kitchens in which all who are hungry are invited to a hot meal, no questions asked. Special demographics, such the elderly and holocaust survivors, schoolchildren, people with mental illnesses and homeless people get specialized help, usually in cooperation with organizations dedicated to their respective needs.
With the generous help of our donors, Food for Life continues to grow and help more people in need in more ways. Having witnessed firsthand so much good will, generosity and kindness over our 20 years of doing charity work, we know not only how prevalent compassions is, but also what an amazing, healing power it is for givers and receivers alike.
